2025-11-20 OCS Conference and Pellet Regulations
Objective: Preventing Plastics from Reaching Our Seas
Four AENOR clients—Repsol, Molecor, GRC( Gestora Catalana de Residuos) y Pañalón—all holders of the AENOR certification under the OCS Europe Scheme, participated in a workshop organized by Anaip and Plastics Europe in the scope of OCS and the future Pellet Regulation.
The auditorium of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge was the venue chosen for this workshop, which explained the principles and requirements of the upcoming Pellet Regulation: its similarities to the requirements of the OCS Europe Scheme (whose voluntary certification is offered by AENOR), and its convergence with the Regulation.
As stated by Margarita Ruiz Saiz-Aja (Deputy Director General of Waste at the Ministry), this regulation is based on the principles of OCS, whose shared objective is to achieve zero pellet losses in the marine environment.
In addition to the organizers, our clients shared the advantages of having this certification in advance and thus getting ahead of the regulations, so that when it arrives, they will already have the necessary resources to comply effortlessly.
Everyone agreed on the key points that contribute to the success of this initiative: company-provided training, awareness among plant personnel, management commitment, and finally, involving all other stakeholders in the value chain in the project so that together we can achieve the goal of preventing pellets, microplastics, and other plastic waste from ending up in our oceans.
Congratulations for your environmental awareness!
